Christian Real Estate Professionals : It Doesn't Matter Where You're At...

It Doesn't Matter Where You're At...

Good morning Active Rain. I hope you had a productive week this past week serving your heart out.

Writing these Sunday God First posts have truly been so good to the growth of my FAITH as I continue to pray and discern throughout the entire week to hear God's word to see what He may want to say every Sunday. It has truly stretched my FAITH beyond my imagination along as trying to "listen" to His voice: sometimes small, sometimes LOUD.

This week, as my son's Spring swimming lessons come to an end, his instructor ask the children, "Where are you going to go for vacation?".... One kid answered "FLORIDA". My nephew who normally is in class is already in PHOENIX. And when it was my son's turn to answer, he said, "HOME DEPOT".....

It was so hillarious.

Yup, our vacation spot was HOME DEPOT - a poor man's vacation spot. It was the 1st Saturday. So, we always brings him to the Kid's FREE workshop projects at Home DEPOT. He's come to look forward to it every month.

The moral of the story - It doesnt matter where we "go", so as long as we are together.

Even in my 3.5 years experience as a mother, I felt the time have come and gone so quickly.

I have successes in the business. At times, working with unreasonable people who completely wasted my time. It's made me mad. I looked up and my son's already going on 4. Karen Otto always tells me to treasure the times, before I know it, my little baby will be headed to college like hers pretty soon.

I'm impatient. I see alot of people have alot of success. People here on Active Rain. I'm trying to compare what I've done as a 4.5 years part-time agent and 4 years as a full-time agent to those before me, who have 15-20 years of business experience. I can't wait to have the business they have.

I do need to take a step back, evaluate my priorities (time with God, time with my family, time in the business). A successful business may take a while to build. But my son will grow up before my eyes really soon.

So, I thought his answer is so real. It doesn't matter where we're at just as long as we're together. Business success? Who's to say I don't have it now? And even if I didn't have it, it will come to me in due time. But not with my family paying the price.

Have another productive week ahead!

Scripture of the Week:

Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Matthew 6:19-21

I begin my week here on Active Rain with my God First posts, written every Sunday once a week. My promise to you is that the messages I share will be day-to-day related, often times related to real estate. If these topics are important to you also, I'd love for you to subscribe to my blog.

God First posts every Sunday

Lorreena, nice post and nice way to start Sunday morning.  I always avoid working Sundays but sometimes there are things outside of my control. I took off Tueday - Thursday to spend time with my husband out of town and had to push back clients.  It's all good in the end.

PS - I am a member of a discount travel club.  If you want to know how to avoid staycations and build memories and adventure please let me know. Thanks!

Success is how we define it. Focus on the goal and all will be given.

Good Morning Loreena, Thanks for sharing this wonderful story about your son's wish to take his vacation at Home Depot. You have definitely put your priorities in order. God First, Family, then Business.  Mathew 6:19-21 is a very appropriate scripture for us to remember while we are here on earth.

Kids grow up quickly, and will be gone from home before you know it. Cherish all your moments with family.

Love your sons enthusiastic answer and his "vacation" photo! Just as you can't rush the time spent nurturing and growing your children it will be the same with your business - all in God's timing. Have a prosperous week!

Loreena, your post made me think of that phrase "bloom where you are planted." Wow I will have to get that travel brochure on Home Depot. They do have a wonderful nursery with colorful flowers to tour LOL.

Loreena, How true, I have found over the years, it is not the big fancy things, but the little bits that will make the best memories and be the stories told around the Thanksgiving table and family gatherings!

Again you astound me with your God First posts and how they always seem to give me a word when I most need it!  I have been especially impatient lately about my business and my life and not waiting on the Lord and not trusting.  I have to remember not to look over and envy anybody else's blessing and remember that I too, have a lot to be thankful for!  God Bless you Loreena and I am so glad your son was able to enjoy Home Depot :)!

God bless you and your scripture blog!

May we all come to know Christ in a very personal experience, knowing that God has sent His Son to be the sacrifice for our sins, that we may have life eternal through Him.

So many great thoughts in your post...on your little one and college...I echo what your friends say...my youngest has a one way ticket to NYC on Tuesday and I am beside myself with heartache that the last one is leaving (she graduated from college a month ago) and I am also very excited for the possibities for her.

On watching others success...I have that strong competitive gene as well...but if you consider the totality of your life you will see that you win...  Having Christ in your life is ALL that really matters.

I plan to write a Sunday post today...I like your idea...

Togetherness is success in itself.    I tend to work 24/7 push push push I have time to do it because I don't have to share my attention.  However, sometimes as I sit here in my empty nest I miss those moments of just spending time with my kids (I did not work when they were small so we had lots of Mommy time)  Some days you just want to go to the snow cone stand with your kids on a hot day!   Success will come... I look at not only business but the success as a Mother of 2 grown up kids   Have a great week

Loreena,

Knowing what our priorities are is a must, and having the right priorities is a blessing, indeed.

Loreena,  I started the business when my younger one is only 1 year old...it's a journey...if i have to do it again, i'll certainly spend more structure time with the family...having said that, looking back, God placed us in circumstances to mold us into what He wants us to be today...thanks for your faithfulness that encourages us...keep up the good works - God is watching!!!

Life's little cherishable moments are far more valueable than any perceived treasure.  Thanks Lo for the message.

We are always hardest on ourselves - often our own self conversations are the harshest.

You are awesome!  In case you haven't heard that lately!  :)

Loreena, it is so true.  It's not so much what we do or where we go, but who we're with.  Some of our favorite "vacations" have been camping with friends, or going to Sea World with friends. So simple...but it was having fun with those we love! :)

Loreena I think you have a great perspective and balance in life that so many of us aspire to seek. I work non stop 24/7 but finally started taking full Sundays off for church and family. Success in business will come, it's just a matter of time. For now you have your priorities in great shape.

Posted by MIKE WONG Realtor, GRI (Keller Williams Realty Southwest) 12 months ago

Loreena,

With the obvious love and contentment in your family, what more success could you have? You certainly have your treasured stored in your heart and soul. Don't worry about what is in your wallet, it will be provided as He sees fit.

God bless and thank you.

You know, it doesn't take much to step back and look and things to figure out what's important.  We hear stories on the news everyday that end in tragic ways that we cannot even phathom.

Last year my neighbor lost one of her 3 year old twins due to drowning in their pool.  At the time she was going through a bitter divorce and of course after the death of her child, the divorce became even more bitter.  Now, a year later, she had started an Equestrian Therapy Healing Center and it has taken off so fast.  She does speaking engagements and I am trying to coax her in to writing a book.

Sometimes,  it's easy to lose sight of what is really in store for us, because we are trying to figure it out for ourselves instead of just letting go and letting God.

Some people who have been in the business 15-20 years would consider you much more successful than them because you have learned to balance family and business. I plan to talk at Raincamp about this exact topic. What is success? Making tons of money or raising a great family, it is your choice! If you have a roof over your head and can be at every event for your kids, then you in my eyes are successful. If you miss your kids growing up and make millions, to me you are a failure!
