Does My Facebook Settings Bother You? Check Out ReclaimPrivacy.org

Facebook, Inc.

I'm splattered all over the net from my real estate business license to personal information that other sites accumulate...does it bother me sometimes.

At least Facebookallows you to change your settings!

Does My FACEBOOK settings bother you? Check out ReclaimPrivacy.org

Let's get real if I really wanted to be private I guess I wouldn't be on the net or I wouldn't expose myself the way that I have throughout the years. Today nothing is private and if you have lots of friends online there is a chance they may be sharing your personal information and you might not be aware of it. Doesn't bother me...but it may bother my friends...

For All of My Private Friends - I Made Adjustments To FACEBOOK!

There is an awesome tool available called reclaimprivacy.org if these things matter to you. Its very simple to use and will let you know the adjustments you need to make if you want to be "private" Follow the simple instructions below but while you do it...make sure you are logged into facebook.

  1. Drag this link to your web browser bookmarks bar: Scan for Privacy
  2. Log in to facebook.com and then click that bookmark
  3. You will see a series of privacy scans that inspect your privacy settings and warn you about settings that might be unexpectedly public.

Adjust your setting as you see fit...don't worry...my friends info..is just between friends! :)

I think this privacy argument is being orchestrated by forces hoping to get market share from Facebook. The key question is, Why would you put sensitive information on a preudo-public domain?

I assume anything I  put out on the Internet is there for anyone to see, and I don't expect any privacy.  If I did, I wouldn't be posting it in a public place.

Cool find, I have adjusted my setting and will still scan. Like you said, I am not trying to hide anything. I hate it when it is someones Birthday and they don't allow people to write on their wall. It makes it hard to say happy birthday, but to each it's own.

There is no doubt I do not want to be a secret agent. No privacy concerns here:)

I agree with some of the previous comments, once posted on the Internet anywhere it can go anywhere no matter how hard you try. So be careful what you put up there. I have a sarcastic side to me, that I try hard to supress. I can't tell you how many posts I type out then delete. In any event this is great information for those who want to stay private, or least try to be, on the Internet. So thank you for the link and the information.

Thank you for sharing.  Facebook is getting a little too big for their britches if you ask me.  I like being able to take back control!

Thanks for the link...I tried it twice and it didn't fix the one thing that I wanted it to fix...but maybe the service is over loaded right now so I will try it again later :-)  I am very careful what get's put out there on the internet...so I am not too concerned...but control is always good!

Midori, Privacy is important - although it does seem like people tend to go completely hidden or they are over the top!  LOL.

Hmmm ... will have to check this out ... as stated in several posts above, I assume anything that I post on the web is likely to be found on the web ... and could still be found on the web at anytime.  In fact there's a time machine resource that's on the web where I've found some of my stuff going back many, many years ... check it out at http://www.archive.org/web/web.php ... which means that if you search one of your domain names, you can go way back in time.  So, it seems to me that the web never, never forgets!!!

I assume that anything I write in emails, or on the internet through blogs or web site will be found by people. Therefore, I try to be sensitive to what I write.
