If you are reading this..you might want to pass this information along to someone not so highly skilled on the Internet. It could happen to them...
As a property manager or rental agent one thing to add to your presentation...to forewarn people leasing out their home...and those that are listing a property for sale? If someone contacts them directly..refer them to their real estate agent. I've always said it REALTORS and/or real estate agents provide protection!

Midori, Volusia County has been plagued with scam artists for years. I have lived there off and on 3 times over the last 20 years (or in a neighboring county). It seems like every unscrupulous contractor gets the idea to go live in an afforable area of Florida. I'm not surprised about the newest scams, but best of luck to you.
They are expanding to areas that aren't aware of their modus operandus. .
Oh my! Know the scam and sure it is in the Tampa Bay Area. Thanks for the reminder! Yes Realtors provide protection, we are the front line!
Have a Great Day,
Dick and Dixie
Midori, this is an important reminder for us all. That you for giving us the heads up. So sorry this kind of thing exists.
Midoi - I guess they are trying this all over Florida. I have seen a report of in happening up here in Jacksonville.
Midori,we went through the same thing with either one of our Daytona or Jacksonville listings....they were using my brokers full name in the ads and a Nigerian address....one of our agents caught it and noticed they were using my brokers full first name which he never uses(as it isn't what you would think it would be for Cris)
They are very cagey with their scams!
Thanks for sharng this information, Midoi. So disheartening to see this kind of thing happening. We frequently vacation in Flagler County and always work through a realtor. Hopefully, your information will get to the people who need it most.
