No I am not giving SEO tips but visual beauty tips, not for you as a human but your masterpiece blogs. Everyday I receive emails because many want the big secrets to get featured.. obtaining blog beauty...and growing their readership..I have a few answers but not all of them...and I am here to disappoint a few.... in truth I have no idea..no pull...no understanding when it comes to getting featured!
I do not write for the fellas...I write for my readers...I write for new readers...and I write for me! But I do admit I also write to get featured...featured in your email with subscriptions..featured in your blog rolls...featured in friendships and business. Yes I admit I love being featured on the dashboard and the newsletters but I still have no clue.
Ask yourself this question..reading your blog posts, Do I like me?
Meaning you..sorry for the confusion but what I mean by that..do you like the topics you write?
The way you write and the way you express yourself..really answer that question to yourself honestly.. and if you like it I promise someone else will like it too! If not you might want to try a different approach such as just being yourself or maybe a ghost writer!
Ever heard the phrase there is someone out there for everyone...well it holds true! Remember there are ONLY billions on the net!
Bold words-its really not necessary for the entire post..this personally does not appeal to me at all..I tend to go for the bold words because I look at it..as key bullet points..or important information that should not be missed! Like many people..too much bold hurts my eyes..and also I use reading glasses which magnifies the font even more and sometimes the print is almost as alarming and seizure producing as the automated music players when you have your speakers up too loud! Are your blog posts the cause of eye sore?
Large font-nope doesn't cut it for me..sometimes when reading...I love the post..but that large font..is meant for emphasizing points..understand this is my point of view....when I read large font posts...I feel like I am in school again...getting yelled at!
Pictures-this is a big one..do you know how many people I have talked to over this very subject? When you insert your picture...make sure and take the time to align..that's right on most occasions..I align left..right or text bottom..a little trick...I insert my pictures last..that way..my written words or links will not get distorted. I also use 11 for vertical space and 22 for horizontal space..
Colleen(Ms. Pay It Forward) taught me that and I never deviated. By doing this alone will make your posts so much easier to read.
Break up those words-with paragraphs, with quotes, with white space. I'd rather have a very long readable post rather than one that never gets read...trust me I've written many...unreadable posts..posts that hurt your eyes. I kept a few of my old posts up..to remind me. I was new on the network once!
Punctuation/spelling and grammar-Spell check your stuff...see my dot..dot...dot..I do that to pause or to be expressive.
I admit...I have flaws but you know what, as much as many would like to state perfection..there are words called human error..yes I am human.
The network is growing and along with that an increase in readership for every person on the network..if your blogs are readable...and content appealing?
Go back and look at your posts and ask yourself, do I have visual beauty?
If you go back in time...you will see...most people improve and just like the rest of your marketing...it takes effort...time...and seeing the value!
Remember "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and "What is one man's junk is another man's treasure!" My junk or your junk...will appeal to some but not all but visual beauty in your posts..may help you to get read and fed a little bit more!
