There are so many scriptures that can be applied to our business. As I start off my week with God's word for me, I'd like to take the opportunity to share it with you too. May you feel blessed and showered with His presence this week.
The most important message I felt God is speaking to my heart this week is to Be Considerate to those around me.
Philippians 4:5 "Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do".
It's another busy week negotiating contracts this week. With the craziness of my schedule and the things has been going on in my life, it is very easy to have a short fuse. But God spoke to me to be considerate for those around me. It is easy to spot a "green" agent (sometimes) from conversations. I would definitely not consider myself SEASONED, but I definitely have much more experience today. I do know that I have fiduciary duties to my clients but at the same time, I am told to be considerate and patient, I do not want to take advantage of anyone or any situation. I think we can achieve both.
Philippians 2:3 "Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself".
Sometimes SEASONED agents do things repeatedly, they fail to see or accept new approaches of doing things. I pray that I do not ever fall into that category. I humbled myself as I asked the green agent to share what she knew so that I may learn from her. I wanted to see if I had made a mistake. It does happen because we are only humans.
Colossians 3:13 "You must make
allowance for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you".
Ephesians 4:26 "Dont sin by letting anger
gain control over you".
When contracts are negotiated pretty heatedly, each agent protecting his/ her clients, it is easy to forget about "the other person". Hopefully, after an unpreventable showdown, do call the agent back and ask for forgiveness. Do not look at it as "losing the battle", but being the bigger person to rise to the occasion. Do not forget whom you represent, our God in every transaction you do.
1 Corinthians 16:13 "Be on guard. Stand true to what you believe. Be courageous. Be strong. And everything you do must be done with love".
When you know you had done your homework, you know the neighborhood and your market comparables indicate that you are right, stay strong. We can always negotiate a contract without feeling like a boxing match because if both buyers and sellers are serious, it will eventually work out. Be cautious and be strong. And remember whom we represent at the end of the transaction. It is not your glory but His.
Now, go out there to be the salt and light of this earth. Much to your success this week.
