Things to Do in Charlotte NC - 46th Annual Festival in the Park

Dilworth Festival in the Park

Things to Do in Charlotte NC - 46th Annual Festival in the Park

What are you going to be doing September 23 - 26 in Charlotte NC?   Mark your calendar for the festival that Charlotteans look forward to each year (and have since 1964)!  The festival where we all congregate in the fall for the art, music, shopping and carnival-style food, is one of Charlotte's favorite events of the year.  Charlotte's 46th annual FESTIVAL IN THE PARK is this month--beginning in a short 10 days!   Festival in the Park is held at Freedom Park in the Dilworth/Myers Park area off of East Boulevard.

Come one, come all!  Join in the fun at Freedom Park!

Visitors from around the world join us for the sounds of big band music, delicious food, children playing in the park and talented artists from all over the world join in, creating a relaxed atmosphere for the entire family.  The Festival continues to grow each and every year!  The big Camelot style tents surround the lake and the lights' reflection on the lake boasts the peaceful, still waters as you listen to the sounds of music and children's excitement as they have their faces painted or enjoy the magic show!

Over 100,000 visitors are expected at the annual event this year and over 150 artists and craftsmen and women will proudly display their talent.  Each year, I manage to find many items that I just can't chose from and find many gifts for my family and friends here.  You can't find the talent that you find here anywhere else either!

The scents of food fill the air as you traverse the sidewalk surrounding the lake, stopping along the way to see the clown show, listen to your favorite new up and coming musician or purchase the hottest new artist's work!  There are clown stages, magician stages, musician stages and little shops along your path.  Even going around the lake for a second round is expected at Festival in the Park Charlotte NC!   Nearly 1,000 entertainers provide ongoing shows at the main stage and many of the surrouning stages and tents for your enjoyment.

Voted as a BEST 200 Festival by Sunshine Artists Magazine,  this wonderful event for all ages is fun, educational, and it's free!  You simply can't beat the good time you will have at Charlotte's 46th annual Festival in the Park!  Mark your calendars now for this exciting event!

Festival in the Park Charlotte NC

Thanks to Julie and the staff at Festival in the Park for permitting me to use the media contained in this post!  I hope you have a great event this year--I'm sure it will be better than before--just as it always is!

Who Benefits from South Charlotte's FIRST Triathlon?

Who Benefits from South Charlotte's FIRST Triathlon?

The Gold Rush Triathlon, sponsored by Meck-South Rotary Club benefits A Child's Place and Polio Plus.

A Child's Place is an organization in Charlotte which collaborates between our community and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.  Their goals are to provide stable, appropriate education to homeless students, provide support services to enhance their academic success, and to provide support to the families to ensure long term stability and self sufficiency. www.aChildsPlace.org

Polio Plus: In 1985, Rotary International launched PolioPlus, one of the most ambitious humanitarian programs ever, undertaken by a private-sector organization.  PolioPlus was the catalyst for the World Health Assembly's resolution in 1988 to eradicate polio.  Today, thanks to Rotary's US $500 million commitment and its leadership in mobilizing volunteers, the world is on the threshold of eradicating the poliovirus. www.Rotary.org/en/ServiceAndFellowship/POLIO

Here's a little bit more information about the triathlon--if you'd like to participate, visit www.GoldRushTriathlon.com.  If you'd like to volunteer for THIS SATURDAY'S event (June 26, 2010), contact me right away at Debe@DebeMaxwell.com or (704) 491-3310.
