January, February and March SNOW in Charlotte NC! 
WOOHOO!
It has been YEARS since Charlotte has had more than one snowfall in a winter season and almost as long since we've had a REAL snowfall (more than enough to cover a handkerchief)! After two full days of pouring rain and finally the big white flakes began falling this evening--all across the Charlotte Metro region.
The ground is already covered and we're expecting 4-8 inches of snowfall during the evening and night hours. The I-85 corridor is expected to get the heaviest snow--within a 40-mile radius both north and south of the freeway.
Within 30 minutes of the beginning of the snowfall, school systems began cancelling classes for tomorrow--MACS & York County Schools were among the first to cancel. Road crews with salt-loaded trucks are ready to go! Charlotte's 30 trucks will be operating overnight and the NC DOT is assisting with 60 more trucks to cover the Charlotte Metro area.
