Call me crazy (I know I asked for it right?!) but that is one of the things I do love about my business. There is always the next challenge and for someone like myself that loves challenges, it keeps me from getting stagnate.
Every real estate transaction is a bit different. Sure some transactions are similar, but because different individuals are involved with differing personalities and circumstances, and because very rarely do we find two properties that are exactly a like, very rarely are two transactions the same. Heck you can serve the same folks more than once and still things change as do peoples life situations and needs!
Ironically when I first started selling real estate, I thought I had entered a "Service Business". I often tell that story to the amusement of the listener. But it is true. In a moment I will tell you a bit more about that, but let me lay some background. My husband has successfully operated our family owned Hair Salon, Richards Hair Studio, for many years. In fact, before life got too crazy we had two salons. One was here in Pullman and 45 minutes south in Clarkston Washington. That is why we actually moved to Pullman from the Lewiston Clarkston Valley. We needed to consolidate as our children were young and just didn't get enough time with Dad. So we decided to sell the business in Clarkston and move to Pullman. That was clear back in.....hmmm...shall I say....how long ago....it makes me feel ancient...Ok...1992.
So back to my light bulb moment. One day, I happen to glance at my license and realized that when it said salesperson it meant I was "in sales." Funny huh? And although now I readily admit I sell real estate, I really haven't veered from original philosophy.
I liken Real Estate services to an art. It is not a hard and fast, cut and dried, cookie cutter type business. It isn't like a science experiment whereby you follow these steps and there are predictable results! There are always subtle difference and nuances that one must take into consideration. And that light bulb moment, well it turned into one of the defining moments shall we say that enlightened and defined who I am and my business. I ultimately sell real estate services, My Real Estate Services to the clients that hire me to help them buy that new home in Pullman or sell their home here in Pullman.
