GMAC to Tap Charlotte's Financial Employee Pool, Adding More Jobs to

GMAC Financial Services has announced that it will be tapping into Charlotte's financial talent pool as it adds major facets to it's business in order to become a bank holding company. The auto lender plans to add another 200 jobs in Charlotte, adding to a workforce of about 265 that are already here.
These jobs will be in finance and IT and will pay an average salary of $96,124. The expansion is good news for Charlotte, as our financial industry has seen some cuts over the past year with the credit crunching, realizing a need to bring more jobs to the city.
GMAC will take up to 70,000 square feet in Uptown Charlotte for its expanding corporate center. The company said it would announce the location in the upcoming weeks; GMAC plans to move the employees that are now based in Ballantyne, to the Uptown area also. The call center on Rexford Road in Charlotte's SouthPark area will remain.
The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce is actively courting financial service businesses and other companies that could add thousands more workers here as well. Finance and insurance employment currently represent 7% of Charlotte's work force. This statistic reflects the city's diverse work force as we are known as the second largest banking centers in the nation! Charlotte will serve as a hub for GMAC corporate executives but, the company's headquarters will remain in Detroit. This news couldn't be better for those local employees who have recently been displaced by Wells Fargo.
