Have you ever thought about why the Democratic Party is symbolized by a donkey, and The Republican 
Party has as its mascot an elephant...???
I'm not sure of the genesis of the icons, but to me they have tremendous significance...First of all I've always liked elephants...they're big, peculiar looking, ageless, docile at times, and mythology tells us they never forget...
On the other hand, the donkey, referred to simply as an ass, symbolizes 
stubbornness, load bearing, hard working, reliable, sure footed, heehawing, etc...
Make no mistake about it...democrat, republican, or independent...all politicians take an oath to uphold the Constitution of the US...and work toward ONE GOAL...E Pluribus Unum...one from many...
I'm reminded by President George W. Bush that we should be about UNITING not DIVIDING, but apparently elephants and donkeys can't coexist...AND...if we are to become the 'melting pot' of the world...WELL...we're not quite 'soup' yet...Perhaps we are too much about 'LAW MAKING', and not enough about 'LAW ABIDING'...!!!
In fact...if it is true that 'United we stand, divided we fall'...we are much closer today to falling than we are to standing...
Only The Lord can make the Lion lie down with the Lamb, and as long as we look toward human solutions to solve all our problems...we will continue our descent...
Two thousand years ago the World was redeemed...after 20 centuries of commemorating that event, we're still not soup yet... Let's pray and hope that we as a Country draw closer to God so that He can bring about revival, renewal, conversion, and ultimately...UNITY...!!!
