The Truth, The Whole Truth, And Nothing But The Truth...Ramblings...!!!

Many of you have heard, perhaps on TV, an oath administered to someone about to testify in court...It usually goes something like this..."Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole I swear to tell the truth!truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?"  

This oath is usually sworn while placing one's right hand on a Bible.  

Over the years, and thanks to the ACLU, an organization who supposedly defends free speech for all, this oath, and the ways it is administered and sworn, has gradually been diluted to where practically a hand shake, a blink of an eye, or a high five will suffice...BUT...  

There was a purpose to that precise language...let me explain...  

You see, almost every lie, every heresy, every wrongdoing, every scheme, has SOME ELEMENT OF TRUTH attached to it...!!!  

If the WHOLE TRUTH is not heard or presented, the facts will be distorted...and isn't this the tactic that many politicians seem to find comfort and solace in today...not to mention a significant percentage of the general population...  

What has become of the old standard when a person's word was his/her bond...  

Jesus, speaking to His disciples, in Matthew 5:37, and underscored in James 5:12, reminded them, "...Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil."   

Perhaps the key word in Jesus' admonition is 'SIMPLY'...  

Nothing is SIMPLE today...even a mere 'Yes' or 'No' can seem complicated...!!!
