By The Water Cooler In The Vineyard...!!!

I heard this morning the parable Jesus gave on the workers in the vineyard...!!! One of my The Vineyardfavorites...!!!  

For those unfamiliar with these passages of Scripture, they can be found in Matthew Chapter 20, beginning with the very first verse!  

Now, what I like most about Scripture, other than it is God's Word, is the many insights that can be derived by a rereading of the same passages...there is the literal meaning, the textual meaning, the Why Do We Work?conventional meaning, the meaning for today...!  

How many times have you read the same passages and come away with a different insight...!!!  

This happened to me this morning.  

I usually side with the workers who put in a full day, complaining that they were given the same pay as those who worked as little as one hour...!!!  

Here are some thoughts that I had upon which to reflect...  

***The work day consisted of 12 hours, not 8...  

***The master of the vineyard is depicted as a 'salaried' employer...  

***A vineyard is a place that makes wine...  

***Were the workers hired ONLY for that one day?  

***Could the later workers have been given the tougher jobs...i.e. grape trampling, clean up after grape trampling, 'securing the shop' for the night...  

It's All About Relationships!***Were some of the first workers hired given the foreman or oversight jobs...the cushier jobs...?  

***What would their pay be for their NEXT day on the job?  

We may think that God (the master of the vineyard) is UNFAIR, but we should be walking by faith and not by sight...  

God rewards us according to our loyalty, not our production...!!!
