This week I spent a lot of time listening to the 'talking heads' on the TV news shows...!
By the way, we don't have news shows anymore...those shows where journalism, not sensationalism or political talking points, drive the content...no, we have well choreographed agenda-driven opinionated 'Hollywood style' ratings-driven entertainment shows...
You see, if the 'talking heads' aren't entertaining enough, they won't be asked back again...so they are impelled to remain controversial and interesting...
I wanted to hear what's going on with our economy and our beloved real estate market...so I tuned into the 'political pundits'...you know the ones I'm talking about...TV is saturated with them...
If you want news today, I'm not sure where you'll find it...I know for myself, I need to go to the underground types...Internet sources I trust...particular journalists who have proven their agendas are relatively unbiased...also, I seek out experts in their field...you gotta ardently root for it...!
If I want to know the truth about 'global warming', I'm going to research experts in climatology, not political exponents with an axe to grind or hidden agendas to pursue...
If I'm interested in the economy, I seek out expert economists with proven results, not just those who've authored textbooks...!
One litmus test I find useful is this...
Ultimately, we need to find 'the truth'...Jesus Himself is THE TRUTH...He said so Himself...so anyone who presents as truth anything that opposes Jesus or His Church or teachings is highly suspect...
But Fran, does that mean you only trust Christians...???
No way, my friend...the truth can be known by Jews, Muslims, and atheists alike...
Likewise, there are self proclaimed Christians, who live their lives far from what resembles their founder...but their lives and lifestyles betray them...by their fruits you shall know them...
Finally, it is difficult to 'find the truth' in a world where information comes at us by the ton and at warp speed...
We're doing too much talking, and not enough walking...!!!
If you want my advice...Pray hard...work hard...fast, if you're led to, don't be lazy and wait for a handout or miracle...pay little attention to the 'talking heads'...do your own research to find the truth...and when you find it (Him)...you will be set free...!!!
Lift your eyes unto the mountains from where comes your help...!!!
