When I first heard the term PARADIGM SHIFT it was in the mid 1990s at a seminar in which the point was
made by the guest speaker that anyone who fails to adapt to the computer age by not implementing some type of CONTACT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM into their business plan or model would be left out in the cold holding the bag...that's cliche for 'missing the boat'...or...
Putting it more bluntly...falling by the wayside...
Now, some 15 years later, that term PARADIGM SHIFT itself has become CLICHE...
What I mean is, now, everytime someone can't explain how to get from here to there...we must be in some sort of PARADIGM SHIFT...
You want the TRUTH...I think it's more of that good old fashioned BS...A new age tactic to get past the 'unexplained'...not the 'unexplainable', mind you, just plain old lazy 'unexplained'...!!!
You want a good relevant real estate analogy...???
What ever became of that AGREEMENT OF SALE where TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE...???
Victim of a PARADIGM SHIFT, I guess...!!!
Mortgage Underwriters use that excuse, Banks use that excuse, Loan Officers are beginning to use that excuse...soon Realty agents themselves will buy into that BALONEY, and that good old fashioned BOILER
PLATE AOS will fall victim to another PARADIGM SHIFT...
And the Real Estate market as we've known it will become victim of its own ParadigmShiftincompetence...
Think about it...
Especially with all the current SHORT SALE and FORECLOSURE activity...THE AOS has become like the teletype...an elephant in the room...
Oh, I'm not going to get into the fine details or the legal ramifications of how to prepare a meaningful AOS...that's beyond the scope of this post and even the expertise of this blogger...
I'm just raising a flag of caution...lest we lose our focus and lose our way...
Get hold of the reins of the real estate practices you were taught and have been exercising these last 20 years...and hold onto those convictions...and be reluctant to budge on certain key issues...and demand total and complete and TIMELY compliance...
Anything less will not be serving our consumer clients professionally...!!!
