Looking Down The Long Tunnel Until Spring...!!!

Any regular reader of my Blog will have heard me praise my long departed Italian grandmother for her wisdom, wit, and many insightful ideas...  

Among these bits of superstitiously coated old wives tales was her assertion about new beginnings...  

In fact she would admonish us to behave exceptionally well on New Years Day, for your behaviour on this day was a foreshadowing of your behaviour the rest of the year...  

And so with that in mind, let us resolve to be creative, energetic, enthusiastic, considerate, compassionate, sincere, upbeat, and excited these first few days of 2010...  

Not only will we be fulfilling grandmom's behavioral cautions for the New Year, but for the new decade as well...  

With the Holidays behind us now we must meet the challenge to carry the Spirit of Christmas with us each day...  

As for me, I usually begin my annual 'countdown to Spring' just about now...  

Once we get January behind us and wiggle through the short month of February, there will only be 20 days until the first day of Spring...  

And beginning shortly with the crocuses or croci, there will be emerging signs all around us of Spring's arrival...

SEPTEMBER...The Month For New Beginnings...???

New years resolutions are usually reserved for January first of each new year, many fiscal years begin in July, and the traditional school year commences after Labor Day with some regional variations...BUT...

September is an ideal time for NEW BEGINNINGS...!!!

September is when nature itself chooses to begin preparation for its Spring spectacular...falling leaves, colorful vegetation displays, cooling temperatures...all signal a hint that nature's beginning to do something different...!!!  

So, if you're tired of your life the way you know it, if your business needs a shot in the arm, or if you'd just like to chart a new course...  

NOW IS THE TIME...!!!  

Jesus was big on 'new beginnings'...second chances...and was often heard telling people to 'reform' their lives, forget about the mistakes of the past, set aside stale and worthless traditions, not harbor grudges, take the road less traveled...  

So...in these few days following Labor Day, why don't we take advantage of NEW BEGINNINGS...  

Let us resolve to examine our lives, our businesses, our personal commitments...and take this time to tweak...!!!  

SEPTEMBER...a great season for TWEAKING...!!!

New Beginnings...Better Than Old Endings...!!!

No, this is not a glass half full glass half empty post...!!!  

But it is a post dealing with realistic optimism...  

I'm a big believer in 'New Beginnings'...Today is April 1...the beginning of a new month and a new quarter...and that's no joke...!  

You know, God is like that...always giving us a new chance, a new opportunity to begin again...MERCY is that quality of God...MERCY and FORGIVENESS...always willing to 'wipe the slate clean'...WE aren't like that, but God is...We forgive, but we rarely ever forget...and if we're reluctant to let go, our lack of moving on can become a grudge, and if that happens it usually affects US more than it does the OTHER PERSON...  

Pheeewww!!! Go ahead, reread that, I'll wait a second until you digest that and catch up...  

Are you with me...?  

Just to reiterate, grudges are holding onto the past, and usually negatively...  

NEW BEGINNINGS are moving on and trying again...and so we have many opportunities in life to BEGIN AGAIN...  

We have a NEW DAY each day, a NEW WEEK each week, a NEW MONTH each month, a NEW QUARTER each quarter, and a NEW YEAR each year...  

If I'm just learning how to crawl...each minute is a new minute...each second is a new second...we speak of attention spans and measure other things in milliseconds...even miocroseconds...  

What is amazing about all this is that God, who is not subject to time, gives us, his creation, TIME as a gift...We must thank God for the gift of time...new beginnings, new starts, new chances...and praise Him who 'forgets' as well as forgives...!!!
