The U.S. In 2009...A Nation Of Sound Bytes...???

Have we become a Nation of 'sound bytes'...are we all victims of 'instant gratification'...are our attention spans measured in nanoseconds...have 'fast food' and 'drive up lines' become the hallmark to define us...  

Makes you wonder, doesn't it, when you look around at the world around us...we have little time, yet we don't seem to accomplish much...! We TWITTER our lives away! No time to read a newspaper, or magazine article, or even PRAY...  

We have stopped reading books, poems, cultural literature, the Bible, and have opted for quicker ways to self satisfaction...a short blog has become a burden to follow before we feel the urge to move on quickly to the next endeavor...the next blog...the next post...if it doesn't fit in a short e-mail it's too long to bother about...  

Is this what we were created for...is this our mission...is this really why God made us...!  

What is our hurry...we rush about only to stand and wait in lines...at the supermarket, on the expressway, on telephones (especially with automated calling features)...  

Can we UNWIND this gigantic mess we have found ourselves in...can we literally go back in time to days in which SPEED wasn't essential...where, in an eight hour day, we could get much accomplished...and without scurrying about or breaking our backs or spinning our wheels...  

Sometimes, it seems the faster we go the behinder we get...  

What's the answer...???  

We need to relax, relinquish the reins of our lives to our God, recognize and admit that on our own we can do nothing, allow Him to get back into the CENTER of our lives instead of being on the periphery, see Him partnering with us where we are the JUNIOR partner, ask Him to reorganize us and reorient our direction to one pleasing to Him and His purposes, slow down and wait for His leading...  

Then EXPECTANTLY FOLLOW HIM...!!!
