I was sitting here thinking...as scores of blog topics raced through my mind...Then it came to me...
That IS precisely the problem...WE AS A NATION ARE TOO IMPATIENT...!!!
We want everything when we want it and not a minute later...
This means we trust only ourselves and our ability to be in control...WHAT AN ILLUSION AND A DELUSION...!!!
All those of faith out there know with at least some micro amount of surety that GOD IS IN CONTROL...!!!
Let me digress if I may...
My parents sacrificed and gave up many pleasures so that their son and daughter could have more than they had when they grew up...
My parents got that attitude from their parents who left their homeland, never looking back or second guessing, but very fearful of making it in the NEW WORLD...AMERICA...LAND OF OPPORTUNITY...!!!
Make no mistake...they were not looking for a handout...only a level playing field and an opportunity to MAKE IT...
The opportunities were plenty, but the level playing field was strewn with prejudice, hatred for immigrants, anti Catholic and anti Italian biases, elitism, back room dealings, etc...
Nevertheless they persisted, persevered, sacrificed, and clawed and climbed their way out of the dregs of society and after much hard work...began to reap some rewards...
Still...they saw that their posterity would need help, and selflessly set aside resources for the future...
They enunciated these values by saying often, "Put aside something for a rainy day"...That was the extent of their formal education and their knowledge of economics...!!!
It was enough though to provide seeds of hope for the future...!!!
That is what is needed today...
Patience, Perseverance, Determination, Hard Work.......AND HOPE...!!!
IN GOD WE TRUST...says our currency...LET'S LIVE IT...!!!
