Fran's Friday Forum...Making A Difference In The Making...A Rant...!!!

I know the title to this post is convoluted and confusing, but bear with me and it may turn out interesting...!!!

Last night I was thinking, "We don't make (manufacture) anything in the good old USA anymore...WHY NOT...!!!

Simple answer: Too many pollution laws and high pay scales have driven manufacturing 'off shore'...!!!

Now, I can defend that simple answer, but it would seem political...The USA comprises less than 1.9% of the total world land mass, even though it is the third largest ranking in that category next to RUSSIA and CANADA respectively...

While we're waiting for the rest of the world's pay scales and standards of living to catch up with ours, and while we suffer with rising unemployment and shrinking incomes, ponder this...

Why don't we insist on leveling the playing field...how can we be expected to compete while countries as close to us as Mexico are thumbing their noses at our insistence that emissions standards be applied and enforced uniformly by every nation...???

Until that occurs, we fight an uphill battle...GREEN THIS...

When at war, we talk about an exit strategy, but with this dilemma, there is none...

Instead of badgering the population of our own country by passing senseless laws ad nauseum and with lightning fast speed (and lawmakers not even knowing what is in the bills for lack of being able to read and understand them), why doesn't our enlightened President and his administration start putting some pressure on these other manufacturing nations so that the good old USA can compete on a level playing field...???

For the first ten years of my work history I was privileged to work in a manufacturing environment, and I know I can speak for most of the people with whom I worked...It is both financially rewarding and spiritually gratifying to PRODUCE SOMETHING...especially where pride is taken to produce a quality product...!!!

I remember in my childhood years and on into my twenties it was a source of pride to pick up an item and see that it was made in the USA...

Where have we lost our way...our focus and our purpose...???

It's never too late to make things right...we have the will and the wherewithal to make it happen...

Let's just DO IT...!!!
