What Lent Can Teach Us About Real Estate...!!!

So The Gospel reminds us that Jesus spent the 'first Lent' in the desert...forty days of fasting, aloneness, listening, praying...and yes, even temptation...

Now read it closely...He was tempted by Satan, but He was led into the desert by 'THE SPIRIT'...

So 'the desert' isn't of itself a bad thing...Go to my friend Mike Jones of Tucson's blog...and see some marvelous pictures of sunsets, saguaro cactus, and undulating rock formations...and tell me you can't find God there...

By the same token, 'temptation' isn't of itself bad either...it can be a doorway to sin if we entertain it, but it can be a doorway to God and eternal life if we resist it...

How does all this relate to real estate, and what can this teach us accordingly...???

Jesus, knowing that tough times were ahead if He was to fulfill the mission The Father sent Him to accomplish, and fully aware of His humanity, knew that time spent in prayer...and fasting...was not only beneficial, but essential...and so, He followed the Spirit's leading...

We, here in 2009 in America, know that trying times are also upon us...

The beginning of 'LENT' which we just authored in on 'ASH WEDNESDAY'...provides us with an opportunity to draw closer to The Lord, or if we do not yet know Him, to have a chance to experience Him in a new way...the next forty days will be our desert, our time to listen to the Spirit, to seek His advice, His Wisdom, His direction, His strengthening, His Grace, His counsel...

Yes, like Jesus, there will be temptation to give up, to ignore His voice, to deny His reality, His power, His sovereignty over our lives...we will be tempted to trust human solutions, political power, and material wealth, and our own strength to resolve all our problems...BUT...

If we spend our Lent trying to listen to His Voice, following The Spirit's leading, resisting temptation, and accepting His Grace by creating some time to spend with Him...THEN...

Like Jesus, we will come out of the desert refreshed, renewed, strengthened, at peace with ourselves and prepared to fulfill the missions to which we have been called...

Yes, Jesus is a lamp unto our feet, and His light will guide our paths into the way of TRUTH...!!!    Psalm 119:105

If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts...

Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus...!!!
