Typically, people act on feelings and emotions - what feels right to them. When someone cuts you off on the road, you get mad. You might even have a hand gesture for the driver. When someone says something upsetting to you, you want to say something just as hurtful to get back at the person. When someone chooses to use another realtor to sell his house, you get upset. These are natural reaction to how people normally react.
In the same token, our clients act on emotions when they make their home buying and selling decisions. As the third-party, non-emotional professional to the transaction, this is where your true value lies. When
you meet your clients for the first time, you may ask them for their goals in their housing needs. During the search and up to the emotional "high" of the transactions, some clients (based on my experiences) have forgotten their goals for their homes. This is where they feel. Here is where you steer them back to their goals, and if they knowingly have a new goal, you know you have done your job. In the "high" of finding them the house, don't forget your job as the non-emotional party to the transaction.
If you want to rise above disappointments and failures, lead yourself with your heart. So many times, people act on how they "feel". They don't think so they don't act accordingly.
Let your heart guide your path, your speech and your actions. It is not whether God speaks to you through the Holy Spirit, it is as and when you allow God to communicate to you - no matter where the communication may lead.
If you let your feelings lead your actions, it can deceive you to do things you may regret later. Do it for yourself, your business and your clients.
