I have said many times in jest, "A person's common sense is inversely proportional to the amount of 
formal education they have acquired..."
For those mathematically challenged, simply put, the more formal education you have, the less common sense you're likely to exhibit...even more simply...if you're extremely intelligent you probably display very little common sense...!!!
Many of my friends and family have heard me repeat this many times...!!!
So, just to show that I'm not the only one who feels that way...that we are victims, in America of our own affluence and intelligence...I have found this tidbit...
An interesting letter in the Australian Shooter Magazine, which I quote:
"If you consider that there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the past 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000 soldiers.
"The firearm death rate in Washington, DC is 80.6 per 100,000 for the same period.
That means you are about 25 per cent more likely to be shot and killed in the US capital, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US, than you are in Iraq.
"Conclusion: The US should pull out of Washington."
There you have it...the one thing I'm absolutely sure of...The only thing 'common' about common sense is that it is 'UNCOMMON'...!!!
