Holy Week Ramblings...And Rumblings...A Christian Perspective...!!!

From earthquakes and aftershocks in central Italy, only a few miles away from my ancestral heritage, to mass shootings in New York, to weird weather all over our country, to fears of recession spreading world wide...yet hope for a financial comeback looms greatly on the horizon...!!!

Famous English atheist, Christopher Hitchens, in a recent radio interview noted that if he were wrong about his beliefs that God does not exist, he would argue with God that there just wasn't enough evidence available to hold a different position...

Blindness is not only an ailment of the eyes, but the heart and mind as well...

Most atheists I have known were reasonably well educated individuals...and I would defend their right to hold their faith or lack of faith positions in atheism, but WOW how stupid they really are...

Evidence of God's existence is all about us...if we're too busy to notice, we're too busy...!!!

Scripture tells us 'We hold a treasure in earthen vessels'...and if we can't be reminded of that truth this Holy Week, we need to do some soul searching...

The culmination of March Madness, the beginning of Major League baseball, the economic news, the disasters around the globe, the threats of hostility from N. Korea, Iran, and other hot spots, are all distractions to a true Christian...

Holy Week ought to be a tunnel through which we focus on the CENTRAL MYSTERY of our Christian faith...THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS...!!! Victory over death and mortality...!!!

If we're not Christians, we can still find plenty of evidence for God's existence. Let this post challenge those who fall into this category. We're not quite sure when the first Christmas was, but we know with absolute certainty that Christ rose from the dead on Easter Sunday and that it occurred at the time of Passover...!!!

It is no coincidence, I feel, that the beginning of Spring, or the beginning of Fall in the Southern Hemisphere, and the Feast of Easter, occurs at precisely the time where nature is most active...First in creating beauty, then in getting elements ready to recreate it...!!!

So let us take this Holy Week opportunity to CELEBRATE...'We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh...'   2 Corinthians 4:8-11 RSV

Happy Holy Week...!!!
