Holy Saturday...Between A Rock & A Hard Place...???

Christ died on a rock called Golgotha (Good Friday)...meaning place of the skull...3 days later He rose from the dead...the rock which was to secure His burial place having been rolled back (Easter Sunday)...exposing an empty tomb...

Between these two events...ROCKS...lies Holy Saturday...

For those contemporary friends and followers of His, a day of great sadness and perplexity...for those of us nearly 2000 years later, a day of anticipation, expectation, preparation, and quiet waiting...

But we Americans don't make good 'waiters'...we are impatient, easily bored, needing constant movement and activity to remain entertained, etc...

So we are between a rock & a hard place on Holy Saturday...not knowing an appropriate response to events around us...kind of like those contemporary friends & followers of Jesus...

For me, a full day of activity...softball practice, practice for Easter Vigil services, little league baseball practice and scrimmage, finishing up Easter breadmaking, preparations for our family Easter services and Easter dinner on Sunday...

Holy Saturday...hopefully small slots of time to reflect on the Joyous Mysteries of our Faith...but this will have to come on the run...that's the way it is when you're between a rock & a hard place...!!!
