We hear much in the news about condemning ‘hate speech' and ‘hate crimes', but we don't appreciate 
that there are some things we need to teach our kids to hate...STAY TUNED...
Lest you think I have flipped my lid or gone over to the ‘dark side', let me assure you that it is sometimes appropriate to HATE...even Scripture backs me up on this...LET ME EXPLAIN...
The dictionary defines hate: To have strong dislike or ill will for; despise. To dislike; wish to avoid: as he hates to work.
Scripture, as I said before, in Psalm 97:10, reminds us, "The Lord loves those who HATE evil; He preserves the lives of the saints; He delivers them from the hand of the wicked."
And in Ecclesiastes famous chapter 3 ‘time' verses, we read in verse 8, "...a time to love, and a time to HATE..."
But Proverbs 6:16-19, puts everything in proper perspective..."There are six things which the Lord hates, seven which are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and a man who sows discord among brothers."
Now, it's precisely those who are obsessed with making truth subjective that are guilty of creating a false notion of HATE...
But if we take Our Lord's word to heart and discipline ourselves to hate the SIN, but LOVE the sinner...
After all, that is the example He left for us and that is what the Church has been preaching now for centuries...AND...
That is what we should be about doing by word and example...
BTW, I'm of Italian descent, and I absolutely HATE tomatoes, but I love most of the things made with tomatoes...!!!
Our society has too high a tolerance for SIN, so we in the Church must be about setting the record straight...!!!
Then maybe, The Lord will heal our land...!!!
