Of course, this weekend we celebrate MEMORIAL DAY...
My hope is that in the midst of all the baseball, BBQ, and picnic activity we don't lose sight of the real meaning of MEMORIAL DAY...HONORING ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED IN OUR MILITARY...
Yes, I know that the original intent of this holiday was to memorialize those who had given their lives in battle or war in the cause of FREEDOM...BUT...
In these days, we now see where troops, properly positioned and commissioned, can have a preemptive effect and either reduce or eliminate war or the breakout of hostilities...AND SO...
In that spirit, we should all celebrate and keep in memory...ALL WHO SERVE OR HAVE SERVED...LIVING AND DECEASED...
By doing this we do not lessen the value of the valiant who have died in action, but rather, we unite those heroes with those who have expressed their willingness to do the same...
That makes and keeps us 'One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all'...
So, this weekend, while pulling those weeds, spreading that mulch, planting and watering those flowers, watching that baseball game, attending a fireworks display, or just enjoying a family BBQ, please keep in mind all those who have served us well...!!!
