Well, God doesn't need me to defend Him...BUT...

Without appearing to be a theologian, let me say that, without this gift of FREE WILL, we would all be 'puppets' or 'automatons', and God wouldn't be worshipped and praised for who He is, but rather He would be feared and followed not unlike any other despot who has ever lived for fear of retribution or punishment...
In many ways the human soul is FRAGILE...yet, in many ways the human soul is RESILIENT...you can observe this phenomenon by closely observing babies and toddlers...

You see, man cannot exist without FAITH...
Even an Atheist has faith that his belief that there is no God is true...
So, in order to move on from this tragedy, and learn something as a result of it, we need to trust in our Faith...
We live in a complex world, and if we are naive enough or gullible enough to think that we pretty much have life figured out...WATCH OUT...
The physical world we live in and observe is but a mere shadow of the rest of the world which remains UNSEEN...unseen, not to a JUST and MERCIFUL GOD, but only to those he has created and given the gifts of LIFE and FREE WILL...
Let us, then, exercise our FAITH and TRUST in a God Who is capable of creating everything from nothing...!!!
