Over this past weekend while my youngest son's 12U baseball team finished first in a local prestigious tournament hosted by the Boyertown Baseball Organization, this post was forming...
Let me explain...
In the penultimate game in the tourney, Jared, my youngest son, while sliding into home with the winning run, developed a buckle fracture of his left wrist caused by a pileup at home plate...
Now, almost a year ago to the day, before his team took first place in a tournament in Medford, N.J., Jared developed a similar buckle fracture to his right wrist sliding into second trying to stretch a long single into a double...
The kid is starting to believe that ‘BUCKLE FRACTURES' and ‘WINNING TOURNAMENTS' are synonymous...!!!
Now, what does all this have to do with God and Electricity...???
Well, here goes...
It is our custom for Jared and I to pray before each game...even before each practice...We pray in the customary manner...Asking The Lord to Bless each kid, thanking The Lord for the gifts He's given us, imploring His safety against injury, etc...
I encourage my kids to put The Lord first in all things, and I always have in the front of my mind the passage from Romans: ‘We know that in everything God works for good with those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose'...
And then it dawned on me...We have more 'FAITH' in electricity than we do in God...When I turn on a light switch, I have little or no doubt that the light will come on...even the slow lighting fluorescent ceiling fixture in our laundry room does not arouse much doubt in me...
And yet, as strong as I feel my faith is, and as much as I proclaim faith in things seen and unseen, yet in all sincerity I must admit, that, like Peter and Thomas and many of the other disciples, I am truly weak in faith, and only in The Lord Himself is my hope...!!!
So, in faith that is weak and in need of strengthening, I trust that The Lord will make even Jared's unfortunate injury work to Jared's benefit and to the greater honor and glory of God...!!!
