A Thanksgiving Reflection...In Black & White...!!!
We refer to movies that were made before the invention of color technology as 'BLACK & WHITE'...Likewise, the first televisions were 'black & white'...
In reality, a careful review of those movies clearly shows that they were rendered in shades of gray...not true black and white...likewise, with TVs...
Fact is, even today, if you look real close at a state of the art modern LCD TV, bright blacks and vivid whites are a challenge to faithfully reproduce...
When we search for truth, we sometimes say, "there it is in black and white"...
We have categorized people as black and white...when in reality, we are all shades of brown...we go from pink ecru to dark tan...!!!
As a young child, I remember the good nuns stressing adages such as 'beauty is only skin deep' and 'you don't judge a book by its cover'...and, much later, in physics class, I learned that black was the absence of color, and white was the sum total of all colors blended together...Of course, this was when studying light waves etc...
Scripture reminds us that what comes out of a person's heart is much more important than what goes into a person's stomach...
If you concentrate on the 'COLORS' that come from a person's Spirit, rather than the color or tone of their skin...You will not be practicing racism, but you will be on the road to real growth in loving your neighbor...WHICH IS, AFTER ALL...
