I'd thought be a little bold today about my Sunday God First post since it's the Sunday after Christmas (also the last Sunday for the year)...If you didn't know, I begin my first order of business here on Active Rain by writing my first post, called God First post every Sunday. Most of the time, I share with others how to conduct business and work your faith through your business, but today..... It will be a little different.
I recently had a deep conversation with a personal friend from college who is going through a divorce. This event hurt my husband and I deeply in part because Michael and I understand how precious a marriage is. As I think more about what our friend is going through, I realized one important part to the equation:
A marriage, often between 2 people may begin happy. But happiness can end really quick if there is not a substance that hold the 2 together. This substance, better yet, this person called Jesus could make a difference in a marriage because His presence can align priorities.
I dont want to dig too much about marriage and life and what you may feel about my opinion. However, I want to share with you my personal testimonial about how having Jesus changed my life and my perception on every aspect.
I am a new believer (2004) and wouldn't even come close to admitting that I'm a bible scholar. But one clear aspect I know is that life since knowing Jesus has been much better. I still have challenges and difficulties but I sure look at them with a different perspective.
I am a better real estate agent today because of a man named Jesus. While I'm not saying that I was "bad" or "evil" in my prior life and certainly do not imply those who do not believe in Him is this way.... everything I do, with or without supervision because I know whom I answer to. I serve with a different attitude, one for the love of others.
- My faith guides me in everything I do.
- My love for others transpired because He first loved me.
- I learnt not to be disappointed in people, even those closest to me because my hope is placed in Him alone.
3:16 team REALTY came to me through a prayer session. Most people think it's John 3:16 but it's not. It is founded from 1 John 3:16 - Now that we know what Christ has done for us, we must do for one another. (I didn't know this scripture prior to this business name). Today, this business name serves me well.
Most of my family members are not Christians. The family dynamics because of what we believe can be challenging at times and here's what my Daddy said to me, "I dont want to be a Christian today because of all the things that I cannot do. But just as soon as I die, I will accept Jesus into my heart"...
My dad made that comment to me over 5 years ago. I can't stop thinking about it. I don't think he is right but I don't want to argue. I much prefer to lead by example.....
So, if my daddy were to read this, this is what I would tell him:
My life has certainly changed for good. Just by having Jesus in my life, things are so much better. I clearly work my priorities every day of my life. And the things you said you couldn't do? Well, I'm not that interested in doing them either because I know better. I love a life where I'm not threading in the grey areas. I love the authority over me and I gladly pay my taxes owed. I don't care for drinking and my focus is to nurture my son so he could be of service to others. Nope, he doesn't have to be an attorney or a doctor, I just want him to be what God has called him to be.
Life with Jesus seems to be somewhat in order and certainly one with unexplainable peace and joy that only can come from the Lord. Will I be sad, angry or disappointed? Most certainly. He didn't promise a life of roses but with Him, life certainly makes more sense.
I pray that all my family members will accept this man called Jesus in their own time.
This concludes yet another God First post, one I write every Sunday since I've started blogging. I'm not planning to stop.
I hope you will have a prosperous 2011 and see you at the top!!!
Scripture of the Week:
I came so that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
John 10:10
I begin my week here on Active Rain with my God First posts, written every Sunday once a week. My promise to you is that the messages I share will be day-to-day related, often times related to real estate. If these topics are important to you also, I'd love for you to subscribe to my blog.
