Sabbath Gleanings......... I am getting back into the swing of things slowly...

The Lord WANTS us to  do well in being a Christian.... He has OTHERS He wants to get into His  kingdom too!!

 

 

 

 

After writing a comment on Sara Washburns Facebook
p
age about Christianity yesterday, I suddenly felt more
renewed to post here in ActiveRain.

To be frank I am still getting my feet wet around here and
even though my posts are getting better statistics, I still
feel like a new born puppy learning to sniff around again.

Please be patient with me while I find my blogging legs
again.
I promise my blogs will continue to get better as time
goes on. I have heard it written and said that practice makes
perfect. My blogs will NOT be perfect, but I am hoping they
will be more readable, educational and entertaining for you!

 

 

 

 

 

Having hard times drives us to the Lord... and that is the intended result....This weeks "Sabbath Gleanings" almost did not happen again.
I just could not find a good topic to post on, since to me there
was nothing worthwhile to blog about.

THEN I took a look at MY LIFE.

Uhoh... I said to myself..... THERE is a blog just waiting to be
written!!

I have always been transparent about when I had a need or
went through a situation in my life that I thought others
could benefit from.

BUT...... my ongoing life as a BLOG??!!??

I was AND AM STILL hesitant about letting it all hang out.

I prayed a LOT and  I still am...........

 

 

 

BUT... that STILL SMALL VOICE had other things to talk to
me about. Have you ever been so convinced YOU could NEVER
be an inspiration to others you were stopped cold in your
tracks and ended up doing absolutely NOTHING??

Well, THAT thought and principle came into my heart and
mind lately.
I actually BELIEVED it to be true, since on the outside,
my life was in a shambles. I believed I could NEVER be an
inspiration to others again because my life was ruined (in my
estimation).

Little did I know The Lord had different things in store for me.

 

 

 

 

 

All the while my life was seemingly "upside down" I kept on Gone is the feeling I am just a little animal typing at the keyboard.....
looking for people to minister to:

  • A guy who had issues with his girlfriend and accepted
    the Lord after talking to me and praying to become a Christian.
  • The guys brother opening up to me about how religion had
    been forced on him in his youth.
  • Having conversations with other employees at work about
    what it meant to be a Christian.
  • Seeing a new landlord and his girlfriend go through painful
    times
    and praying for them to get things right...... and as a
    result they are progressing in things.
  • Getting to know a new broker to work with in the future who
    is a Christian and is someone I can trust.
  • Attending a church where the leadership KNOWS the deep
    things of God
    and they understand MY life and what I am
    going through.

 

 

The simple message of this post is this:

Your life, if you are a Christian, is NOT about how much money you make, what car you drive, what toys you have or even if you are married or not or what social circles you move in.

It's all about living the way Jesus our Messiah lived while he was on earth so long ago. When you are born again spiritually by accepting Jesus as your LORD and Messiah and confessing and repenting of your sinful habits, you have a measure of Gods Spirit deposited inside you as a "down-payment", proving you are one of His sons or daughters.

What YOU DO with that down-payment is your gift to God and to Jesus, when our Creator tells our Messiah to take the earth from Lucifer's rule and to set up the RIGHTFUL kingdom originally set up to rule this planet.

WILL YOU cultivate that talents God has deposited in YOU?

OR are you so caught up with the THINGS you have,
that His Kingdom takes a back seat OR no seat at all?

 

And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.  Luke 9:22-24

Parable of the Talents

 "For it is just like a man about to go on a journey, who called his own slaves and entrusted his possessions to them. "To one he gave five talents, to another, two, and to another, one, each according to his own ability; and he went on his journey.

"Immediately the one who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and gained five more talents."In the same manner the one who had received the two talents gained two more."But he who received the one talent went away, and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money.

"Now after a long time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with them.

"The one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, 'Master, you entrusted five talents to me. See, I have gained five more talents.'"His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful slave You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.'

"Also the one who had received the two talents came up and said, 'Master, you entrusted two talents to me. "And the one also who had received the one talent came up and said, 'Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered no seed.'And I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.'

"But his master answered and said to him, 'You wicked, lazy slave, you knew that I reap where I did not sow and gather where I scattered no seed.'Then you ought to have put my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would have received my money back with interest.

'Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to the one who has the ten talents.'

Parable of the sower:

And He spoke many things to them in parables, saying, "Behold, the sower went out to sow;and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up.(Hard hearted people)

"Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil."But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. (Those who get persecuted because of the changes in their lives and they fall away)

 "Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. (Those who are fixated on things in their lives)

"And others fell on the good soil and yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty. (Those who by patent enduance bring forth a crop to Gods glory)

College Hill

 

Pullman Washington, home of Washington State University, sits on the far eastern border of the state in the heart of the Palouse Region. Pullman is divided into four hills or neighborhoods -- Pioneer Hill, Sunnyside Hill, Military Hill and College Hill. The following Map of Pullman WA I made might be helpful. College Hill, the northeast corner of Pullman Washington, is home to Washington State University. the homes near the heart of the university are vintage in nature. There are also some very wonderful homes that have a wonderful and unique nature from the 60s and 70's. The desirability of many of these homes is the fact that they are close to the College, especially within walking distance. Students especially enjoy living in the heart of campus. Professors traditionally enjoy living more on the outskirts of College life but within walking distance, especially in view our awareness of the importance of saving our national resources and living green.

Military Hill

 

Pullman Washington, home of Washington State University, sits on the far eastern border of the state in the heart of the Palouse Region. Pullman Washington, home of Washington State University, sits on the far eastern border of the state in the heart of the Palouse Region. Pullman is divided into four hills or neighborhoods -- Pioneer Hill, Sunnyside Hill, Military Hill and College Hill. The following Map of Pullman WA I made might be helpful. Pioneer Hill, the southeast corner of Pullman Washington, is home to both Kruegel Park and lovely Lawson Gardens. Many of the residents of Pioneer Hill find this a big bonus to living on Pioneer Hill. Our elementary school on Pioneer Hill is Franklin Elementary. Our middle school for all of Pullman is Lincoln Middle School. The homes on Pioneer Hill range from vintage to newer homes.

Homes Are Alot Like People...

 

Homes Are Alot Like People...

 

...TLC, a healthy diet and even a little surgery may be required!  As a former nurse, I have come to learn the commonalities that Charlotte real estate shares with patients--they really do have a lot in common.  No anesthesia is required for the treatments necessary to remedy the home aging process though!   As homeowners, however, we may need a little anesthesia when we receive the maintenance bills if we don’t stay on top of our home's aging process right from the beginning.

Needs a facelift

 

1. Homes get wrinkles, too.  Yes, believe it or not, I’ve seen Charlotte homes for sale with sagging plaster, drooping windows and hanging doors.  Brand new “For Sale” signs sit out front, their clean, white sparkle starkly contrasting with the wrinkles.  It’s not attractive; the homes may be only ten years old (30 in house years!), but they look much older.  Be kind to your home – use a little cosmetic surgery when necessary.

There ARE cosmetic surgeons available for homes.  Only, in home-speak, they’re called “contractors.”   If you notice that your home has wrinkles and you want to sell it, see what replacements you can afford to have the contractor handle for you before putting your home on the market.  Windows?   They’re reasonably affordable on most budgets and can make a huge difference in how the house looks.  Hanging doors?  Not as affordable as windows, but still doable.  With $10,000 or less, you can give your home a major facelift.

3. Homes do get tired too.  Have you looked around your house lately?  This is one of the first things you want to do before putting it on the Charlotte real estate market.  Is your home tired and worn out?  Even relatively young homes can show signs of energy-deficiency. Cabinets start sagging.   Doors groan and sigh when you open them.  Windows refuse to stay open all the way and slowly slide back down in the tracks.  Give your home an energy boost.  Even a little WD-40 can make a huge difference, especially on groaning doors.  If we’re talking about groaning garage doors, a $5. can of silicone spray can do wonders (and should be used about once a year to keep them youthful).

4. Homes can go bald and get age spots.  It’s true, they can.  What used to be a bright red roof has faded and peeled in places, giving the home an “aged” look.  The real kicker is, to keep it bright and pretty, you have to maintain it, dye it or replace it.  Keep the overhanging oak trees trimmed back to avoid the age-spotting sap from necessitating early hair plugging!  Take care of your home’s head!

5. Homes need TLC too.  To stay happy and healthy, homes need tender loving care too. With a steady diet of maintenance, touchups and cosmetic surgery, your house will be happy and you will be able to find a good buyer too!

If you’re selling your home, make sure it stands proud above the rest—youthful, despite its age!
